Position: HVAC Installer

Location: Denver, CO

Responsibilities and Duties:

To help our mission, we are looking to hire a highly motivated, reliable, adaptable, and hard working team member to help us onsite with heat pump installation projects and ductwork modification. This is a great chance to put your learned skills in energy efficiency and renewable energy to work in many different areas onsite and to help homeowners with skills such as HVAC, minor plumbing, minor electrical, general onsite labor help, ductwork and sheet metal work, and much more.

You must be adaptable, have a can-do attitude, enjoy variety, are not afraid to get a little dirty and uncomfortable being in crawlspaces and attics. You have the desire to combine hands-on work in the fi eld with the science and engineering aspects of home electrification projects using the latest tools. Position Responsibilities:

• Help onsite with heat pump installations as an HVAC tech. This includes being on ladders, in attics, in crawl spaces, lifting heavy objects carefully, and working outside for many hours at a time.
• Lifting heavy equipment, loading and unloading tools and job supplies.
• Some driving to meet onsite with your own valid driver’s license and transportation. May include supply runs to pick up project equipment and supplies.
• Use of basic and specific tools for ductwork building, demolition of old equipment, minor plumbing, minor electrical, and any other of the many HVAC-specific tasks.

Qualifications

• Good work ethic and hard working.
• Have a desire to learn, adapt, love the trades, and variety in day-to-day work.
• Incredibly organized and punctual.
• Reliable, on time, and maintaining open, honest, and clear communication.
• Confident and you have great communication with homeowners and customers about complex topics, engineering, reports, and findings.
• The desire to do quality work and to make sure it’s done right, even if it takes longer.
• You take pride in your work and aren’t afraid to use your owner research and critical thinking to solve challenges that arrive constantly.
• Have an interest and passion for improving air quality, advancing the electrification movement, and cutting pollution for a better future.
• Willing to learn, offer solutions and take direction while using problem solving skills.
• You have a reliable vehicle and a good driving record.

Preferred but not Required

• Previous HVAC tech or onsite heat pump installation experience
• BPI Certification and energy audit experience in residential homes
• A degree or training in sustainability, home electrification, or renewable energy fi eld.
• Experience working on projects in sustainability, such as air sealing, insulation, energy efficient lighting installation, plumbing, HVAC fields, solar install, and similar.
• Similar engineering or design role, but now you have a heavy desire to switch to a hands-on role

You will also work directly with the founders Xerxes Steirer and Erin Shine. Xerxes is a PhD Physicist and has a background working as a professor at School of Mines and research work at NREL, and Erin Shine is a BPI Certified Energy Auditor and serial entrepreneur in the sustainability space with 20 years experience.

Job Type: Part-Time

Compensation:

• $20 to $30 per hour on a salary basis plus bonuses based on skills and experience.
• We start on smaller projects and have a probationary period so that we can see how we all work together.
